Good Morning! Well, I did get some sleep last night, but I still woke up looking like this (and still with a headache).
Actually, I didn’t wake up looking like that, that is after doing my hair and makeup.
You all thought I naturally looked like that? Oh, please! It is not 100% better, but there is am improvement. I still have those tired eyes! Oh well, duty calls, I have a full day of class and work.
Breakfast this morning was fantastic and simple.
Vanilla Chobani, Kashi Go Lean Crunch, Blueberries. I also had coffee with half and half and stevia. The mug I got from Stephanie and Jimmy’s shower is slowly becoming my favorite mug
Today’s outfit:
Gray Pants (Express), White Cami (H&M). Green Cardigan (A gift from my parents, not sure where they got it), Black Anne Klein Sling Backs.
Confession: I totally wear these slippers while sitting at my desk, gotta keep those feet toasty. I have always had “work slippers” since I starting working in an office.
In Other News:
1. So, you may have noticed I have not worked out in a few days. If you read this blog regularly, you know I usually work out 6 days a week. I have been getting some e-mails asking what gives, I figure I will just talk about it rather than have you all speculate. I have been asked if I am pregnant, hiding and injury, or going through a difficult time. The answer is NO TO ALL. No “real” injury, I am not pregnant (I have to get married and finish my masters degree first), and I am not going through a hard time at all
I appreciate your concern for those who wrote me.
I have not been working of for a few reasons:
- As you may remember, I did talk about some slight knee pain I have been feeling. Oddly enough, I don’t experience this pain when running, but when doing Body Pump during the squat and lunge tracks. I don’t feel as if it is an injury per se, but I think it may be a little muscle strain. Rather than stress it more, I have been resting it. It is way more important to me not to get injured and to be able to run for a very long time (I want to be one of those 90 year old ladies you see jogging and think, ” Is she serious? “) So, my muscle is telling me it needs rest, I am giving it rest!
- You all know I started classes this week. You all also know that I am a huge routine person, I love to have a routine. Well, having classes Tuesdays and Thursdays has changed my routine a little bit. At times when I used to be working out I am in class now. So there is a little learning curve here. I am just trying to figure out my routine so that I can get back into the groove of things. It won’t take long. But planning is very important, and if I did not plan, I would not be able to juggle everything.
- I have been TIRED! Maybe a result of my new routine, maybe the winter, maybe I am getting sick? I don’t know for sure, but my tired eyes this morning and last night speak for themselves!
I think I am at a total of 5 days now with no workout. So and I panicing? Am I worried I will gain those 30 pounds back? GOD NO! First of all, 5 days without a workout will not make me gain weight. Second, my appetite has adjusted it. The burn less calories, therefor I am less hungry. Case and point, I didn’t eat my whole half of the pizza like a normally do last night. Thirdly, I love working out, I love running. It is my passion. When the knee feels better (which it really is starting to virtually no pain or weirdness today), I am no longer exhausted and I am used to/ have planned out my routine, I will be right back at it like always.
2. Self Love Tip of the Day: Take a Day Off: Ever heard the saying “a change is as good as a rest”? Every once in a while take a day off from your normal routine and do something different. It can be a simple as walking to work a different way, eating a lunch you very rarely eat, or taking a day off and going on a picnic or to a museum. It is refreshing and breaks you out of your shell a little bit! Plus, you may find something you really love doing!!!
Well, I have got a LOT of stuff to do around here, see you at lunch!

Word to big bird. You take some rest time.
I have been feeling the exact same way. I am hoping a run this afternoon will inspire me to get back on the bandwagon – but I am exhausted!
I am also craving my routine and with the start of the new semester am having a hard time figuring my way through it – I am also starting a class next week which will throw a wrench in my plans I’m sure.
So, I know you like warm pressed sandwiches, and I wanted to offer my advice:
hummus
black beans, corn and a TEENY TINY bit of EXTREMELY SMALL diced red onion
fresh spinach
tomato slices
avocado
grilled on multigrain bread
i love what you said about resting! so true! im TIRED too.
your outfits are super class, as always!
Good luck on getting back into a good routine, your work slippers are too cute!
good for you to take a couple rest days off! =D i haven’t gotten the bags under the eyes yet, but i’d rather get that then the bed head! =/
love your looks by the way. i haven’t entered the true working world (as a personal trainer…hahh i come in exercise gear and live in it) but when i do i’m going to come to your site and browse the archives for some ideas!
go lean CRACK is the bomb. for sure
Where are those slippers from? They are the cutest!
The sweater is pretty awesome too
I definitely think it’s important to rest when your body tells you in needs it. Good job for listening!

Way to listen to your body. You know it. No one else does. Good luck finding a new routine that works for you this semester.
Take time to rest! it is really important! I am impressed you manage 6 days a week normally! If you don’t mind me asking, how long do your workouts typically last?
About an hour. On the weekends to do one long run that takes about an hour and a half (10 miles).
I know what you’re talking about…I’ve been having weird quad/knee problems when I’m running or doing lunges & squats. I thought it was just a quad problem, but it seems to be in my knee. I’m a little worried because I don’t want to further injure myself. You’re doing the right thing by taking a break!
This is a really important post.
You need to take a break sometimes! I’m glad you are looking after yourself and taking the rest you clearly need.
By the way, your outfit is gorgeous. LOVE that colour green.

I always love your outfits…especially your cardigans!!!
A I love your take a day off tip
So I have a really similar knee issue and it is technically runner’s knee (though it doesn’t always hurt when running). The number one way I get it to stop hurting is to wear “smart shoes” for a day or two. I know, I know, I LOVE fancy shoes too, but flats without support, heels and shoes with little to no back cause your knee to shift ever so slightly. Combined with running, it can equal a sore knee. I would never give up my shoes for good, but when my knee hurts I wear Dansko clogs or my favorite pink and purple Pumas for a day or two to give it a rest. Just a thought! Sometimes I wear the “smart shoes” if I know I will be doing body pump or bosu where there will be a lot of squats and lunges. Hope this helps!
Thanks for the advice!!! I have two pairs of danskos, I will wear them tomorrow!!! This is very helpful.
Hope you feel better soon!
I like your Self Love Tip of the Day. Rest is so important yet so many of us feel like we have to carry on going.
Cute slippers!!
This is a great post, Thanks!
