AM workout fail…

Morning! Sorry for no post last night. May dropped me off at 10 pm and I went to bring my mom some important tax documents (she is my personal accountant :) ) and ended up talking to my mom and dad until 11, by the time I got ready for bed it was 11:15 and I was way to tired to post.

Yesterday, before class, I snacked on some dried apricots. YUM YUM! I found them in my snack draw and forgot how much I love these little guys.

Check out the poster that arrived in the mail yesterday! I put it up in my work space…I love it!

Cute, right?!

After class, May picked me up and we headed to JCrew for to try on the Bridesmaid dresses- there was a little issue that almost caused me to get hit by a speeding ambulance, but that is a story for another day. :)   Myself and our friend Lauren (also a Bridesmaid- in both of our weddings) tried them on. It is really cute in person and I love the color! I tried on the 4 and it was a little too big, and they didn’t have the 2 in the store for me to try. I just ordered the 2, it will be at my house (free shipping !!!) by next week, so if the 2 is too small, I can return it for the 4 and just get it taken in a little but. Jcrew makes it easy…I like that :) I promise I will post pictures for you guys when I actually get it in my size and in the correct color.

After getting fitted for the dress, we headed to The Cheesecake Factory for dinner. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms and edamame for appetizers. I had one mushoom (delicious!!) and plenty of edamame.

Clearly, I did not eat all the edamame in this picture, we split it between four of us. For my meal, I got one of my favorite salads of all time. The Spicy Chicken Salad!!!

This salad is actually on the “Weight Management” menu. We actually discussed at the table that they should rename that section of them menu. It just sounds weird. The salad it delicious it has spring mix, grilled spicy chicken, corn, black beans, brown rice, cilantro, peppers and tomatoes and it topped with a low fat spicy dressing! My kind of salad ;) I only ate half and took the other half home. This thing was huge!!!

After dinner we headed home and I went to bed around 11:15-ish. This morning I got up, got into workout clothes, packed breakfast, lunch and work clothes and headed into work for a run at the gym in my building. It was miserable waiting for the bus, cold and rainy…not a good weather day here in Boston! On the way out the door, I had a pre-workout snack of 1/2 of a banana.

The gym at work is super small. It has:

  • 2 treadmills
  • 1 elliptical
  • 1 bike
  • 1 rowing machine
  • 1 stair-master
  • free weights
  • a pulley machine

It is very small, but totally worth it, it is a one time fee of $20 to join! But, sometimes, it can be a pain in the neck that it is so small. When I arrived this morning there were people on both treadmills. So I decided to take some time to stretch and wait for them to get off. I stretched for a good 20 minutes and no one showed any sign of getting off. I was not going to just sit around and waste time, so I showered and went up to work. I figured  I would get an early start, then leave early and head downstairs after work. I was a little annoyed because I made the effort to get up early, pack up my stuff, wait for the bus in miserable weather and all I did was end up showering and coming to work.  I would have rather showered at home and slept in a little. Oh well, not the ideal situation, but at least I will get out of work early and still get to work out…win/win :)

Breakfast was pumpkin oatmeal and a grande bold coffee with 2 pumps of vanilla syrup and half and half.

Pumpkin Oats:

  • 1/3 of a cup of oats
  • 2/3 of a cup of water
  • 1/2 of a banana
  • 2 spoonfuls of pumpkin
  • cinnamon
  • 1 spoonful of peanut butter

Today’s outfit:

Black pants (Express), White cami (Forever 21), Hot pink sweater (Target), Black pumps (Anne Klein).

In Other News:

1. My friend Dan sent me this article on the benefits of running. I thought it was super interesting and wanted to share it with you guys.

2. “Ask Me Anything” Questions:

Q: When is your bestie getting married? I can’t believe she already has her dress and bridesmaid dresses!

A: May is planning her wedding for  September of this year. An exact date has not been nailed down. She is currently working with a few possible venues to work out a date.

You can vote for her and her fiance Rick  for the Crate and Barrel Ultimate Wedding Contest. To do that, click here! Thanks in advance!

Q: I found a gym near me that does body pump and between you and Tina at CNC I’m really interested in trying it but…I’m out of shape. Should I wait to try it until I am in better shape or do you think it would be a good place to start?

A: YAY!!!! Body Pump is a great place to start. The thing about BP is that you decide how challenging it is going to be. You decide how much weight to lift. The instructors are great at recommending the right amount of weight for your fitness level. Just start of with lighter weight if you don’t lift weights normally. I hope you love it as much as I do, let me know how it goes!!!

Q: Your skin is gorgeous! What products do you use?

A: This one literally made me laugh out loud because I struggle so much with adult acne. You can read a whole lot more about that in this post. But, my skin has gotten a lot better, and I THANK YOU for the complement and for noticing!!! :) For my face wash I use this Basis bar soap. It works wonders and is REALLY CHEAP!!!!

I also use some prescription Meds from my dermatologist.

Q: How many times do you hit the snooze button in the morning?

A: HAHAHAH, for those of you that didn’t see. Adam totally tattled on me in a comment last night and revealed my very friendly relationship with the snooze button ;) . I believe he called me “Snooze Queen”.  I have no idea though. It depends on the day, 1 or 2 depending.

Q: Did you see your proposal coming?  Did you want to get engaged earlier than you did??  I have been with my boyfriend for 3.5 years and I am READY to get engaged!! LOL.

A: Well, anyone that saw me the day Adam popped the question (which was A LOT of our family and friends) and vouch for the fact I was in TOTAL SHOCK! I actually cried for 8 hours straight. I was so excited I barely ate or slept for days! I was very surprised it did not see it coming. I mean Adam and I were together almost 10 years when he proposed, so I knew it was going to happen eventually, but I thought it was still about a year away. So I was shocked for sure. I was definitively ready to get engaged at the time when it happened. Did I want to earlier? Well, that is hard to answer. I was ready for a little while before it happened, but I wouldn’t change when and how it happened for anything. Good Luck, I am sure it is coming. Just enjoy your time now and don’t pry too much, you will want it to be a surprise!!!

Don’t forget to submit you ask me anything questions. To submit a question click here!

Well, I got to get going see you at lunch.

Just had to put my two cents in about the Body Pump. I also take a version similar at my gym and it has been the BEST thing I have EVER done fitness wise. It really is for all levels and you will be amazed in the results your body will give you.

I hate it when you make an effort to go to the gym and then for uncontrollable reasons you don’t get to work out. Hopefully the weather will be better next month and you can go back to running out doors, I’m definitely looking forward to that.
