Hey everyone! I hope you had a great Tuesday! Mine in winding down now. I am currently relaxing with with a cup of chamomile tea while blogging and petting Oscar. I am trying to calm my nerves, I have my final interview with the superintendent tomorrow morning for my job and I am feeling nervous about it. Chamomile tea should help me sleep and not worry- or at least I hope it does!

This morning did start off quite nicely. After the 6:45 am morning car moving scramble (Oh the joys of city living), I hung out with Oscar, a cup of coffee and two of my favorite magazines.

Breakfast was a yummy scramble. I used 1 egg and 1 egg white, 1/2 a cup of black beans, medium salsa, cayenne pepper and reduced fat cheddar cheese to make a spicy protein packed breakfast.

After breakfast, I headed to my first CrossFit class in over 4 months. Since I didn’t have a full-time job for a while, I had to make some cuts and my CrossFit membership was the first to go. It was a painful cut to make at first and I really missed it these last few months. Now that things are looking up I am able to go back. I am not even going to kid around- underneath the excitement was a little bit of fear. I was freaked out that I would struggle a lot or be exhausted. But, although it was tough, I didn’t struggle as much as I thought I would. Here is the workout:

Warm up:

  • 10 pass throughs
  • 10 jumping jacks
  • 10 air squats

Strengthcon:

5 rep max SNATCH

WOD:

  • 250 meter row
  • 15- ab mat situps
  • 10 -20 inch box jumps
  • 5- push ups

4 rounds for time. I finished in 11:40.

I have sort of have always struggled with Snatches. I have a hard time getting under the bar rather than pulling the bar up. I understand it and know when I need to do, but somehow I can’t connect my brain with the motion. My max weight was 35 pounds. I didn’t want to add weight until I knew that I was the form down correctly, which I never really got. I’ll keep working on it.

The WOD was fun! My goal was the just keep moving and I did exactly that. I just moved from one thing to the next. I didn’t struggle as much as I thought I would so I was pleased. I felt awesome after the workout. I have missed Crossfit so much and I am beyond psyched to be back.

After my workout I met my friend Karen for coffee to catch up and hear about the half marathon she ran this past weekend. I sipped and iced coffee with cream and vanilla syrup while we chatted.

I was so happy to hear that Karen felt great and did well with her half marathon- coming in in under two hours. Karen is a rockstar!!!

I made myself some lunch when I got home. I had a pressed turkey, reduced fat cheddar and spinach on a whole wheat sandwich thin. On the side I had some carrots and green peppers with avocado hummus.

I spent the afternoon trying to install and troubleshoot some plug-ins for my blog to no avail. This stuff can suck you in for hours if you are as stubborn as I am. In the later afternoon I stopped at Whole Foods for some tomato soup and a small salad of spring mix, tomatoes, cucumbers, tuna and hard boiled egg whites topped with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I wanted to grab dinner on the way to the student I tutor’s house since I knew I wouldn’t be home until well after 9:30 pm.

I spent the evening with the student I tutor. Tonight was our last night together and it was sort of sad. I had a great time spending over the last few months helping him out with homework, social skills and executive functioning skills. I will miss seeing him. But with a full-time job, the blog and working at the restaurant I don’t want to add anything else to my plate and spread myself too thin.

Today’s outfit:

Black yoga pants (Gap Body), White Tank (Old Navy), Purple wrap sweater (Calvin Klein), printed scarf (Target), Black tooled dansko clogs.

Wish me luck tomorrow with both my back to CrossFit soreness and my final meeting with the superintendent!

Night :)

  4. good luck in the final meeting! Also yay for crossfit. I love all your crossfit posts, esp when you list the workout. You really got me into trying it on my own since I cannot actually afford crossfit for real.

Thank you! This is one you can definitely do at a regular gym as long as you have a rowing machine there. Just use a bench or a step for box jumps!
