Hello! Ugh, I am draaaaggging today! I have had minimal sleep for the past few days and it is catching up with me. The issue with writing papers late at night after working all day is that it takes a lot of effort on my brain’s part to stay focused and think critically. So, when I am done with the work and ready for bed, my brain will not shut off and just keeps going, keeping me awake. It is sort of like the mental equivalent of the energy rush you get after a hard workout. So, writing two papers late at night this week has had an effect on the amount of sleep I have gotten and I am feeling the effects today for sure! Does anyone else experience this?
Looks like someone else in the FFF household feels the same way. I was met with protest when attempting to make the bed around this little guy.
Doesn’t he look very serious? This little guy is serious about sleep. Bed early tonight for sure
Breakfast was a large Green Monster. It seemed like the best option for two reasons:
- It provides me with sooo much energy, which is just what I needed.
- I had 3/4 of a bag of spinach that was at the use it or toss it stage of ripeness.
Green Monster:
- 3/4 of a bag of spinach
- 1 cup of fat free milk
- 1 banana
- ice
- protein powder
- green superfood
- flax seed
- pumpkin
- peanut butter
And…coffee, obvi!
Today’s outfit:
Brown cord trouser pants (Jacob), Oatmeal colored v-neck sweater (GAP), White cami (GAP), Dip-dyed scarf (H&M), Brown pointed tow boots (Nine West).

“Ask Me Anything” Questions:
I will be doing these ask me anything questions until March 5th, which will be one month of “Ask Me Anything”. I had to make a cut off somewhere or I would be answering questions forever. So get them in before next Friday!!! To submit a question click here!
Q: Do you think that there will be any bridal competition between you and May since your weddings are so close in time? My best friend and I got married nearly two years apart (mine was first) and she was so competitive and threatened by everything related to my wedding (even though it was years earlier). Maybe it is just our relationship, though – we are both lawyers and HIGHLY competitive people.
A: Good Question! I am pretty certain the answer is No. May and I have been best friends since we were practically toddlers and we have always done EVERYTHING at the same time (gymnastics, applying for private high schools, playing volleyball- we even played the same position, applying for college, graduating, applying for our first “real” jobs, etc.) and have done everything without being competitive. As little girls we always talked about planning our weddings together, so it is really exciting that we actually get to do it.
May has always been the closest person to me in my life, so I can’t even put into words how genuinely happy I am for her. I think both of us are really excited about each other’s weddings, really excited about being brides, really excited about being Maids of Honor, but mostly, excited that our best friend has found the guy of her dreams and that we will be standing there with each other when we both make the biggest promise of our lives. So, I don’t think there will be any competition. I have the inside scoop on what is planned so far for both weddings and they are both going to be pretty awesome! ![]()

I’m with you. I went to bed last night at like 9:30 and still didn’t want to get up this morning.
I totally know what you mean about not having your brain shut off! I work a full time job and go to grad school part time as well. I find it so challenging to think all day at work then have to come home and do it for a few more hours. This past week I woke up dreaming about data bytes (I’m an electical engineer)! I try to make time to work out bc it helps with my stress but then I feel guilty that I’m not doing hw so that’s something Im trying to get over. Can’t wait for this semester to be over so I can focus on more fun things, like working out and being a bridesmaid (I’m in 4 weddings right now)! Hang in there!
ps. I’m fairly new to your blog and it’s become one of my favorites
I totally feel like I can relate to you!
Cute outfit, I love the scarf from H&M. I have the hardest time shutting off my brain at night. Either its thinking nonstop about how to complete a project (virtually writing it in my head), or is going over my day to see what should have been changed.
I definitely relate to the difficulty of shutting off my brain. Sometimes, writing a to-do list for the next day before bed helps. It was terrible in college (I was way busier) and I would constantly have strange dreams about whatever I studied all night. I’m loving reading the questions and answers by the way!
ahh i know what you mean about sleep! sometimes at night i just have to literally shut the door, turn off the lights and just sit there in silence to wind down! loving the Q and As!
What a cute doggy!
I hear ya on how the brain just does not want to shut off and relax! Once I am in the zone of doing all my schoolwork, it’s hard to get out of that go, go, go mode.
cute scarf! love h&m

That scarf looks amazing on you! I have it too <3!
I love your scarf!!!
My roommate and I got married one week apart and I never felt that there was any competition! We each did want we wanted to do and were happy for each other!
I feel you on the work all day and then do homework, it hurts! One of my closest friends and I are getting married four months apart, it has been great to bounce ideas of someone going through the same thing and I think it has even brought us closer than we already were!
Wow, I know how it is…
To sleep so little and work so hard!
But, remember – you can do it!
Besides, you can always try sleeping earlier and do more stuff in the morning… Can be very productive!
Have a great (sleep) night!
Brazilian XOXO´s,
Gabriela
I had this problem when I started studying for the CPA exam. I would study til 9 or so and then try to go to bed around 10 and I would just lay there doing calculations and problems in my head. I lost sleep for MONTHS until I figured out what works for me.
I HAVE to sit on my rear and watch TV for at least an hour to distract my mind and calm my body. (Kardashians are a good distractor.
) I find that once my mind is distracted but whatever it is on TV that DOESN’T stress me out, that really helps me fall asleep.
I’ve also started taking Melatonin which is all natural, non-addictive, you don’t build up a stamina too it, and has a lot of other health benefits. It helps me wind down even more.
Good luck! You are crazy busy!
