Hello! I hope your Tuesday has been good! Mine has been busy. I actually worked at my part-time job until 9:30 tonight! Usually the first day back after a long weekend is a long day for me. I am glad I got all of that out of the way.
Breakfast this morning was a whole wheat bagel with laughing cow cheese and tomato slices.
So good!
I was super busy at work and and I realized I hadn’t eaten lunch yet at 2:30. Yikes! I ran across the street and visited my favorite salad bar. I ate while working, I had a lot to get done. This salad had: spring mix, beets, cucumbers, tuna, feta, kidney beans, baby corn, banana peppers, pickles, onions, mushrooms, lima beans and artichokes
So yummy! I topped it with a little balsamic vinegar.
Around 5pm while I was finishing up, I snacked on some salt and vinegar popchips.
After work I decided to walk across the city to Marathon Sports to buy a new pair of running shoes. The best thing about blogging that I knew it was wayyyyy past due for sneakers since I looked it up on my blog and realized I have been running in the same shoes since the end of August! Yikes! While walking to Marathon Sports, I sipped a venti skinny vanilla latte. It was a perfect iced coffee afternoon!

The sales guy was pretty helpful, we talked about the difference between the Brooks Adrenaline 10′s (current running shoes) and the upgraded Brooks Adrenaline 11′s. The toe box seemed to be a little more narrow, so I was worried. I tried on some other runner shoes but I have am issue with overpronating, swelling in the heat and I have super high arches. So the Brooks Adrenaline 11′s Men’s were actually the best. Yup! I bought Men’s shoes. They aren’t as pretty as the women’s once, but they are the best fit. This is going to be super important in the upcoming months. But you have to read the rest of this post to find out why!
Here they are in all their masculine glory!
After my trip to Marathon Sports I worked at my part-time job. Around 8:15 pm I met Adam at a local Thai restaurant for a quick dinner break. I got the scallion and ginger stir-fry with tofu and some steamed brown rice.
Today’s outfit:
Tie Dye dress (TJ Maxx)- I am loving Tie Dye right now!
So now for my announcement: I finally pulled the trigger! It has been a dream of mine to run a marathon and this weekend I made the decision to register for the Baystate Marathon on 10/16/11!
I have been going back and fourth with the idea in my head for some time now. Now that I am feeling a little better and my running has been outstanding I figured the time was right. I feel like after having 3 half marathons under my belt, a marathon is a great next step for me. My friend Dan will be running with me which made the decision to do it a whole lot easier! I go back and forth between feeling sooooooo excited and sooooooo petrified! I am working on a training plan right now and will fill you all in every step of the way. I am so excited to be training for my first marathon! I have 15 weeks to turn myself into a lean, mean 26.2 running machine! Eeeeeeekkkkkkkkk!!!!!
Have you ever pulled the trigger and shot for a big goal? Did you freak out a little? Where you scared? Excited? How did it go?

Congrats! Super exciting news and a great first marathon. Flat and fast and your family can go to several places on course to meet you! I can help you with a plan if you are interested. I’ve designed.several plans in the past! Happy you fell back in love with running!
Yay! Running a marthon does sound equally exciting and scary. I am still on the fence about it. I think I am going to just start training until I make up my mind. I believe it’s 20 weeks away though so maybe that’ll make it seem less scary? Good luck, I can’t wait to hear about your training schedule. I am trying to get one figured out too.
Congratulations! I was looking into that marathon too, but I think I’m still too scared and unprepared for it. Maybe that little break you took from running a little while ago did just the trick!
2 years ago, I pulled the trigger when I decided to go thru Body Pump certification. It was always a dream of mine and I couldn’t believe I was actually doing it! It has been the absolute best decision I’ve ever made. Changed my life in so many ways! Good luck and congrats!
I ran my first marathon last year and after I registered online, I was like, “Oh, my goodness! I can’t believe I just did that!” But it was good motivation and I stuck with the training. The marathon was one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever experienced–right up there with getting my master’s degree, getting married, having my baby girl. Best wishes for wonderful training!
COngrats – I went through the same thing a couple of weeks ago – and finally signed into active.com and signed up for Amica Newport, RI…I was excited, scared and anxious (I want to run it now!!)
awesome! i was thinking of doing this one… and may still. i’m registered for the smuttynose rockfest in hampton two weeks before… i may end up just doing the half and going for the full for this one. we should chat and meet up for some long runs!
So excited for you Ali! I went back and forth FOREVER about whether to do a full or not, and do not regret my decision at all! It was really one of the best things I’ve ever done. Such a cool experience
yay that’s so awesome! you’ll do great!
Congrats, Ali!!! So excited to hear about your training in the coming months. I just “pulled the trigger” and signed up for my first….race….ever. Really, I’ve never done one before! It’s just a wimpy 5k, but hey — you gotta start somewhere, right?
LOVE the dress. I am thrilled I can finally wear dresses to work!!!
A 5k is by no means wimpy, Laura! That is where I started! I am sure you will so a great job. Congrats of pulling the trigger, there is no turning back now. You will get addicted!
Yay! Yay! Yay! I am so excited for you– emailing the training plan to you in just a second. Running my first marathon was easily the scariest, most terrifying, and most AWESOME thing I’ve ever done. You will be amazing.
CONGRATS!! I totally freaked out when I signed up for my first marathon and had huge doubts and fears, but it was the BEST THING EVER! Such a fantastic accomplishment and you’ll do so well!
wow! yOu will do awesome! I have completed four 1/2 marathons…and I still dont have the guts to sign up for a full haha
Congrats on signing up for the marathon!!! You will rock it!! A year ago I could barely run a mile and since then I’ve made running part of my life and have done a 5k, 10k and am running a 10 miler in 2 weeks (yikes!) You inspire me!!
I did the BayState Marathon as my first one last year! It is the perfect first time marathon I think–it was low-key and everyone was really friendly. And it was flat! I liked it so much I signed up for it again this year!
