It’s Officially Official!

This morning I got up really early and put on my “power suit” for my 8am meeting with the Superintendent of Schools’ Office for the district of the school counseling job I verbally accepted last week.

Black skirt suit (Ann Taylor Loft), Gray and white bird blouse (Ann Taylor Loft), Love Knot earrings (Tiffany’s), Black suede pumps (Michael Kors)

I was nervous and excited. I sipped coffee while getting dressed but barely even made a dent in it.

Even though I wasn’t hungry because I was a bundle of nerves I forced myself to eat breakfast because I knew it would only help me out. I had an egg and reduced fat cheddar cheese sandwich on a whole wheat sandwich thin with a sliced apple.

The interview went well and I was so excited to relieved when she extended a hand shake and said, “Welcome to the district!”. I had the option of starting tomorrow or Monday. I chose tomorrow! I want to get going as soon as I can!!! Thank you for all of your well wishes :) I appreciate it!!! I can’t wait for my first day tomorrow!!!!! EEEEEEKKKK! :)

I obviously celebrated with a nonfat pumpkin spice latte that I picked up after running an errand! Fall in a cup!

Today’s plans:

  • Run
  • Laundry
  • Going to get a copy of my undergrad transcript
  • Oil Change
  • Writing an appeal for a parking ticket I got while in my interview…OF COURSE!
  • Dinner with my aunts, mom and cousins tonight :)

Do you get nervous about interviews? What is your best tip to keeping calm?

First, Congrats!!!!!!!!! Second, you rocked that suit!

Definitely do not cover your face in moisturizer and then sweat on an interview. I had pools of white cream on my forehead while I was being interviewed once.LOL

Congratulations and good luck on your first day!

  10. Congrats on it officially being official! Sounds like a great list of items for the rest of the day, will minus the parking ticket hiccup! :) It depends on the interview as to whether or not I get very nervous. If it’s a job out of my league usually I get more nervous, but if it’s one I haven’t totally decided if I want or not….then I usually go in feeling more like I’m having a conversation with the panel. Glad yours went well and congrats on starting tomorrow! :)

  11. Lauren says:

Ahhh congrats lady!!!!! So so happy for you and I know you’ll do so well. :)

  12. Congrats! I love the power outfit!

  13. Sarah says:

That’s amazing Ali! You are such an example of hard-nosed determination paying off! I always sip coffee before my interviews to calm me down- sounds backwards, but it is such a soothing experience :)

  14. Michelle says:

Just catching up on this now… CONGRATULATIONS!!! I’m so excited for ya.

Even if I’m nervous for an interview, I’m all about fakin’ it til I make it. I figure if I just act confident and like I know what I’m talking about, it must look that way, right?
