I usually like to keep you all informed of races that I am training for or have coming up. I am currently lining up my fall race schedule and wanted to share one race that I have on the docket that is not only a great route but also a great cause.
On September 16Th I will be running the third annual Jared’s Run 5k run and walk.
Jared Connor is the 7 year old son of Ricky Connor, Detective with the Everett Police Department and Reia Briggs Connor, founder of Phunk Phenomenon Dance Company (featured on America’s Next Best Dance Crew) in Everett MA. Jared suffers from Sanfilippo Syndrome. Sanfilippo Syndrome is a terminal genetic metabolism disorder. It makes the body unable to properly break down long chains of sugar molecules called glycosaminoglycans. There is currently no real treatment or cure for this disorder.
Money raised for this event will go directly to Jared’s Fight and Team Sanfilippo. Our hope is that we can all come together again to raise money for cure and treatment, as well as awareness.
The race will be held on September 16Th, 2012 at the Everett Recreation Center 47 Elm St Everett MA, 02149. Race will begin at 10:00am, with registration starting at 8:30. First 100 runners will receive a free t-shirt. There will be refreshments for all and entertainment for both adults and kids to follow the race. This is a family friendly event, so please bring your families.
