Hey! I hope our Thursday was awesome. Mine was pretty great! I set my alarm for 5:30 am and I woke up feeling a whole lot better. Thank goodness! I think the rest, hydration and chicken soup helped a lot. I got dressed and headed out the door to Ultimate Bootcamp. The workout was really fun and very leg focused. We did about lateral raises, step ups with lateral raises, side lunges and ice skaters. We did sets of 20 on each leg each exercise is broken up with a pretty long sprint. We timed our sprints and the goal was to shave 5 seconds off each sprint and get faster with each sprint. I could only shave off 3 seconds each time. I was stuck there, 3 seconds is a lot when you a sprinting. We went through the workout twice the two sets were broken up with a pretty tough ab workout. I was so glad I got up and went!
When I got home I made a coffee. I tried a new brand because it was on sale this week and I really loved it. I get into serious coffee ruts and it was time for a change. This coffee was rich but not harsh and the fact that it is organic and free trade didn’t hurt.
While sipping coffee I made myself a breakfast sandwich with a toasted whole wheat sandwich thin, a fried egg, reduced fat colby jack cheese and veggie sausage topped with organic ketchup. On the side I had a sliced apple, that I shared with Oscar- he loves apples!
I had the final training for my summer position today. I start the program with the kids on Monday and I am super excited! I packed up a lunch to bring with me to eat during the training. It had spring mix, grape tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, leftover turkey tenderloin and reduced fat feta cheese. I brought some balsamic vinaigrette dressing on the side.
Adam and I made dinner together tonight while catching up. He and I have both had crazy work schedules so it seemed like we hadn’t seen each other it days. It was nice to spend time together cooking. We made grilled bbq chicken, corn on the cob and asparagus. I love when we can cook a whole meal on the grill.
I topped my corn with butter and grated parmesan cheese. If you haven’t tried grated parmesan cheese on your corn on the cob. Get to it, people! It is AWESOME!
After dinner I met up with Kristen and my friend Casey for froyo at Emack and Bolios. I wasn’t sure what I wanted but once I saw the black raspberry chip, I was sold!!!!
I got a small black raspberry chip with chocolate sprinkles.
Today’s Outfit:
“Keep Calm and WOD On” t-shirt, white tank (Forever 21), Matchstick jeans (JCrew), Rainbow Flip Flop.
I love this t-shirt!
Unfortunately, I won’t be “WOD”-ing for a while. I actually had to put my Avalon Crossfit membership on hold indefinitely.
My summer program doesn’t pay nearly as much as my guidance job at school, which is why I picked up a second job at the Navy Yard Bistro. When I am making less cash, I need to make cuts and Crossfit was the thing that had to go. I am bummed out for sure, but hopefully I will be back at some point. This is one of the crappy parts of being a grown up, cutting things you love but can’t afford from time to time. This past month hasn’t been so bad because I have been going to Ultimate Bootcamp classes, but starting next week that will be over and I will be going back to my regular gym. Luckily, I have a membership at the local YMCA and it is pretty inexpensive. So that is the upside!
Have you have had to give up something you loved doing because you had other financial priorities? What did you do instead? Were you bummed out? Where you able to eventually able to go back?

I was doing a bootcamp but at $50.00/month I just couldn’t justify doing it for a third month on top of my gym membership. It was soooo fun though! Like play-time after work
Oh well, atleast this break will give me a chance to go spinning more often. I may try another one in the fall or winter though, to mix things up again.
