Kentucky Wrap up!!!!

Ok, I know you guys have missed me, right?! I am sorry to be MIA again, and I know I promised it wouldn’t happen again, but we had two days to see everyone in Adam’s dad’s side of the family and there are A LOT of them. We were go, go, go so there was NO TIME to blog at all! But I took my pictures!!!! It is so funny to see people’s reactions of me taking pictures of everything I eat and drink!!!

Ok, well on Friday morning at 3:15 the alarm went off, we got up and got ready to head to the airport. As we were getting ready Adam and I split this banana (this is not an old picture or anything, I actually remembered to take a picture at 3:15am…see how dedicated I am to you guys!)

IMG_0778At the airport I had a yogurt with granola and strawberries, and a medium french vanilla coffee from Dunkin Donuts.

IMG_0779See my future mother in law in the background? (HI Minnie!)

The flight to Kentucky was awesome, it went by fast! Maybe because my nose was stuck in a book!!! I am seriously loving this book I am reading!!!!!

When we got off the plane we went to enterprise to pick up the rental car and then to breakfast. We were all so hungry! I forget the name of the place that we went, I think Perkins?

I started off with water and coffee:

IMG_0781For my meal I ordered an egg white omelet with mushrooms, tomatoes, broccoli and cheddar, and whole wheat toast…no butter!

IMG_0782I ate the whole omelet, a piece of toast with strawberry jelly and two bites of the hash browns…and they were worth it!

After breakfast we drove to Adam’s grandmother’s house to visit with her and then to Adam’s Aunt Margie’s house. Margie got a new pup! Look hoe cute Lightening is!!!!

IMG_0783After we left Margie’s we went to the hotel to check in. The lady at the front desk was less than nice and gave Minnie a whole bunch of trouble about our reservations…ugh, I was so annoyed. We had to wait in the car for about an hour before our rooms were ready. While waiting Adam and I enjoyed a beer- hey I am on vacation!

IMG_0784We can’t get this flavor of Mic Ultra at home…so I really enjoyed it! I actually dedicated this beer to my friend Ashley (Hi Ashley),we were just talking about how we couldn’t get this one in New England at all!!! It was tasty. Once we were able to check in, Adam’s Uncle Jim showed up with his son, daughter-in-law and their kids. We all went to lunch at Big Boys. I was a little nervous that I wouldn’t find any healthy options. You will see throughout this post that I did the best I could where I could to find healthy options. When you are in a big group of 10 plus people, you sort of have to go with the flow and try your best to find healthy options when faced with a not so healthy place to eat. Anyhow, ordered a water and for my meal, the grilled chicken breast with the salad/soup bar.

Here is my salad and soup:

IMG_0787I got the veggie soup, it was good, but a little salty. I ate bout half the bowl:

IMG_0786Here is my salad:

IMG_0785It had lettuce, tomatoes, banana peppers, red onions, beans, cottage cheese, broccoli, cheese, peppers, beets, sunflower seeds. It as good and filled me up. I knew I needed some protein so I ate about 1/2 of the chicken.

IMG_0788It came with Mac and Cheese I had about 3 bites of it… It was good!

We went back to the hotel and I have a few Mic Ultras by the pool. After that we went to Hooters for wings and beer. I have never been to Hooters before. Let me tell you there are NO healthy options there. We ordered a pitcher of Sam Summer and a whole bunch of appetizers. IMG_0792“naked” (meaning they have no batter) hot wings that Uncle Jim and I split. OH BOY WHERE THEY HOT!

IMG_0793Fried pickles…my favorite fried food ever, I have a few handfuls of these…

IMG_0794Cheese sticks, I had only one.

IMG_0795and curly fries, I think I had one, just to taste them. Here is a picture of me and Uncle Jim at Hooters!

IMG_0790We had a few more beers back the the hotel ad called it a night. We woke up at about 8am on Saturday and went down to the hotel breakfast.

IMG_0799The selection was not that great but I did the best that I could. I had an apple, two pieces of wheat toast with jelly and a little piece of egg. I knew I needed a little protein. After that Adam and I decided to go for a run, his lower back was hurting him so we decided not to make it a really long one. We did 2.9 miles and made it back just in enough time fto not get drenched by the rain! After the run I had a peanut butter kashi bar. Perfect way to refuel.

IMG_0800Adam’s cousin Sis was having a cookout, so we went to the local grocery store to get some things to bring along. Of course I picked up veggie burgers and some whole wheat rolls. We all pitched and and got some stuff for lunch before we headed over to the cookout. At the hotel I made a turkey and American cheese sandwich with mustard and a tomato from Adam’s Aunt Margie’s garden on a fresh baked whole wheat sub roll. It was really good.

IMG_0802I also had it with these veggie snacks…soooooo yummy and a nectarine I got at the grocery store, but I forgot to take a picture of it.

IMG_0801For dessert me and my soon to be mother in law, Minnie, split a fudge brownie…it was devine!

IMG_0803

At the cookout, we drank A LOT of these!

IMG_0784(old Pic same beer)

When the food was served I had a veggie burger on a whole wheat bun with mustard, tomato and lettuce.

IMG_0806I had a hard boiled egg white (that was basically a deviled egg that I took the middle out of).

IMG_0807I also had some taco dip and chips. I think this amount, plus a little bit more dip.

IMG_0808I also used some of those chips to try Aunt Margie’s homemade salsa. IT WAS HOT! I loved it. Margie makes this salsa with ingredients that she grows herself…talk about organic. It was hot, but really addicting!

IMG_0809Here is a picture from the cookout of Adam and I and some of his cousins on his dad’s side…there are a lot missing too! HUGE FAMILY!

IMG_0810After we left Sis’s house we went back to Hooters for more wings and beer.

IMG_0819I think all together Adam, his cousin James and I split 3 pitchers, I am sure I didn’t drink as much as the boys. Let’s hope!!!

I ordered the 911 wings this time (everyone at the table was so nice to order then “naked” for me…the fried food hurts my belly)

IMG_0813Look at this beast!

IMG_0820I got sauce on my face and Adam tried to get a picture for you guys before I wiped it off …success!

IMG_0821Adam even tried a wing…he hates hot stuff…I was so surprised he even tried. You better believe I got a picture of that!

IMG_0814Here is a picture of me and Adam’s cousin James from the fun night at Hooters.

IMG_0815This is Adam and Kelly (James’s wife)…we had a blast!

IMG_0817One the way out I found the gumball machine I made Adam keep putting in quarters until we got a green gumball for me, I think I was tipsy.

IMG_0822FINALLY!

IMG_0823The next morning we got up and went to Waffle House for breakfast. I got the Lite waffle with chocolate chips, eggs, hash browns and toast with coffee and a water.

IMG_0824This waffle was good, I ate it with butter and syrup. IMG_0825I ate all of the eggs and I had a bite of the hash brown.

After breakfast, Adam an I packed up and when to for about and hour and a half drive topick up his grandmother to take her out to lunch. We went to a small pizza place called Edwardo’s I got the salad bar option and an individual veggie lovers pizza, with water of course. They were both tasty.

IMG_0826IMG_0827After lunch went and visitor Adam’s family a little more before going to the airport. I got to take home 3 jars of Margie’s salsa :)

IMG_0834They made it home safely in out luggage, thank God. I plan on passing one along to my friend Kevin who LOVES hot things too!

Once we got to the airport we went to a resturant to get dinner. I ordered a new beer I had never heard of. It was called a Dunkell.

IMG_0828It reminded me of a lighter version of Guiness. For my meal I ordered the red pepper and mushroom sandwich it had a little bit of cheese and basil on it. It was good. The thing that stinks about airport food it they don’t really have bread substitution options or allow you to switch fries for a side salad. Oh well…

IMG_0829Little sandwich…lot of fries…ugh. Sammy close up!

IMG_0830I ateĀ all of the sammy and about 1/2 of the fries…I am all fried out after the handful I had this weekend. Afer we ate we had a few more beers. IMG_0831Our flight got delayed buy almost 3 hours and we didn’t get home until after 2am this morning (we were suposed to be home at 10:15). While we waited to get on the plane I snacked on some veggie snacks.

IMG_0832I actually took today off from work on account of being gome way too late (3 hours of sleep is no good) and I had a DR. appointment I would have to leave early for this afternoon anyhow. Adam and I slept until about 11:30! WOW I can’t remember the last time I slept that late! Once we got up, I ran out to get us some coffees.

IMG_0835

For brunch I had an Arnold sanwich thin with cashew butter and half of a banana.

IMG_0836I had a very busy afternoon, I went to the DR, target, the grocery store, and did some work at my part-time job. For snacks I had a kashi Honey Alomond Flax bar:

IMG_0838and some blueberries and cherries that were still good from last week.

IMG_0839Adam decided to take me out to dinner tonight because I was stressed. We went to Figs, I had a Blue Moon (my fav) and a Harpoon Summer (which I never tried…this girl cannot resist trying a beer she has never had) throughout the meal. For dinner I ordered the Roasted Scollops.

IMG_0842It came with tomato cous cous! It was 100% fantastic. The flavors worked so well together. I highly recommend it! I ate about half, I also had the littest piece of bread.IMG_0841Well, It is 11:30 and I have to get up in 6 hours, I am going to get in bed with my book and hopefully fall asleep soone. Good Night!

Looks like a good time! We were in Attleboro on Saturday and found the orange grapefruit mich ultra (I was so psyched I thought I texted you but not sure if you got it) It was the greatest liquor store I have ever been in! I have never seen so many different beers.

I have been craving scallops for probably about 6 months now and still haven’t satisfied the craving! Your delicious dinner only makes me want them more!!! It is my mission over the next week now!

    • Ali says:

Mel: I have never tried the apples ones, I will look for them next time I am at the store!

Jaime: I hope you like it as much as I do, it is my favorite breakfast by far!

Ashley: I love scallops, especially in the summer. I think they are my favorite sea food! I am so glad you found that flavor. How did you like it?

      • jaime says:

i LOVE it! i used to buy kashi go lean crunch but stopped for some reason…so glad to have it back in my cabinet! i love greek yogurt but had never tried chobani. i really like the honey flavor. AND it keeps me full for close to 2 hours, which is no small achievement at 6 mos pregnant!

      • Ali says:

Jaime: Wow that is great! I am so glad you liked it! The Honey flavor is great…not too sweet, right?! I am glad it keeps you full that long at 6 months pregnant, I bet you get hungry more often than the rest of us! Congrats- when are you due?

      • Ashley T says:

I liked the Orange but I think the pom-ras is my fav of the 3. They’re all so light and great for all day drinking in the sun thats for sure!

      • Ali says:

Yeah? My favorite is the Orange by far!

  4. Leota says:

Glad you are back in action. You have to stop depriving me of my daily blog reading…LOL!!! Glad you had a good time. I too bought the chobani and tried it with blueberries, Kashi cereal and some banana. I just don’t like the taste and texture of yogurt. :-( I will stick to my daily intake of honey nut cheerios and fat free milk.

    • Ali says:

Sorry! I find it really hard to blog when on short weekend vacations because I have to rely on iffy hotel internet and I am usually go go go.

I am sorry you don’t like the greek yogurt! But, I guess it was worth a try right? I hope you didn’t by to many containers of it.

  5. Leota says:

I held back and bought only 2, thank God. I will eat the other one when I get back from my vacation. But continue writing about your foods/new foods so that I can try them. The almond butter was a hit for me. I love it.

    • Ali says:
