Ladies of the Round Table…

Hello! I  hope you got through Monday in one piece! My morning was kind of rushed and I think my workday felt pretty rushed too. I packed my breakfast and lunch for work this morning. Breakfast was vanilla greek yogurt topped Kashi GoLean Crunch and some mix frozen berries that I picked up at Costco yesterday. I love adding frozen berries to my yogurt and cereal because the thaw out by the time I get to work, but they are still super cold and refreshing.

The morning at work flew by, when it was lunch time I was shocked that it was that late. Lunch was a salad of mixed greens, grape tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, feta and light organic Italian dressing. I also had about 2 cups of  veggie and barley soup that I picked up at Costco. I love their refrigerated soups, they are typically pretty healthy and really tasty. Oh and did I mention cheap? Total bang for you buck!

My workday was busy and flew by. I didn’t have time for the gym this afternoon so instead I spent an hour getting things down around the house and blogging before I headed to the event I attended tonight. I spent the evening back at my Alma Mater as part of the “Alumni Rounds Table”. I was invited to the event to chat with current students about my career(s). When I arrived on campus, I realized how much the event was promoted!

Can you spot 18 year old Ali in this photo hanging in the College’s President’s Dining Room.

The evening started off with each of us getting interviewed by the Media and Publications Department for a promotional video. I was slightly unprepared for being on camera, but I am such a ham so I worked out. After that I had dinner with the Professor that organized the event and my fellow Alum. Looks like the cafeteria food has gotten A LOT healthier than it was when I was there. For dinner I had brown rice, a veggie burger topped with salsa and some veggies on the side.

The event then involved all of us alumna doing a short introduction about ourselves and then we sat at a table while students interested in chatting with us shuffled through. It was such a fun night! I loved meeting the students and chatting with them about both my job as a guidance counselor and my blog.

It was so cool to hear about their interested and plans for the future. At one point I looked up to see this on the screen…I don’t think I have even seen FFF that big!

I think the event was inspiring for all involved. I know I left feeling inspired and grateful that I went to school at such a great place and have a real sense of community there still. I am also super lucky to share the event with these accomplished alumna.

It was a great night and I enjoyed being one of the ladies of the round table tonight!

Are you still in touch with people from High School or College? Do you attend events at you Alma Maters? Would you enjoy chatting with current students?

My cousin went to PMC! I toured there when I was looking at schools (9 years ago… how is that possible?!?) She is a school counselor too, small world!

I now teach at my old high school, so you could say I go back often. :)

I’ve spoken at my alma mater a few times (Endicott College). I’ll be going back again in the near future. I love talking about my career!

Thanks so much for being a part of this event Ali. The girls loved you and took so much away from the conversations you had with them!

    THANKS!
    Lisa

Such a small world! I went to high school with Jewell Burke. In the last photo, the young lady all the way to the right is my cousin Lisa lol.
