New Gym Pet Peeve!

Hey everyone! I hope the rest of your Tuesday has been good. Mine was ok. I got soaked by rain while walking from work to catch the bus home, but after that my night got better. When I arrived home I was cold and wet and was craving something warm. So I had some tea. This tea was given to me as a gift from my friend Erica.

It is loose tea, so I just add 1.5 tablespoons of the tea to a little bag let it sit for about 5 minutes. This tea is so good. It has a yummy chocolate taste, but still tastes like tea, it is a great combo.

I sipped this tea while reading my book and steaming fresh green beans.  Can you say “multitasking”?! Meanwhile, my crazy husband insisted he could grill in the monsoon we were having. Adam grilled us ginger soy chicken kabobs I got at Whole Foods this weekend and corm on the cob from the Farmer’s Market. He is nuts, but I was grateful because I love grilled food :)

The kabobs were awesome. They were marinated to perfection and super, super tender.

I loved it, but it was huge. I had all of my corn (no butter, grilling makes the corn so sweet no butter needed), all my green beans and 1/2 of my kabob, plus all of the peppers from Adam’s kabob, he didn’t want them!!!! I saved the rest of my kabob for another time this week. Lets see if I can get creative with it ;) Stay tuned!

After dinner, I did a little laundry and hung out with Adam and Oscar until it was time to head out to Body Pump. While at Body Pump, I witnessed the strangest thing. The girl next to me sent half the class texting, no lie, half the class. She would just drop her bar mid-clean and press, bench press, squat etc. and text! It was insane and super annoying for a few reasons:

  • She was risking injuring herself
  • It was distracting
  • It was so rude to the instructor
  • The class was ticketed (which means you have to sign up and people are shut out if there is no more space). Someone who really would have taken the class seriously was shut out so she could sit half the class and text and giggle…so unfair!

Would you be annoyed by this? Do I just take my Body Pump too seriously? What is your gym pet peeve? Mine used to be people staring at you while you get dressed, but now it is texting during Body Pump.

Well, my book is calling my name…CAN’T PUT IT DOWN! See you in the morning!!! Night, loves!

Um really?! She should have been kicked out! I am a phone addict, but they belong in your locker at the gym!

  2. jules524 says:

That is so rude. No one is that important.

I also hate people on their phones at the gym, and people who wear pajama pants or jeans and girls who wear regular bra’s instead of sports bra’s. I don’t know why, that just sort of bugs me.

  3. Julie G says:

I’m surprised she had the audacity to text in the class. It is extremely rude! ugh!

  4. Jerry says:

I hate when I go to the Gym and Adam is Team Leader and he makes fun of me for tucking my T-shirt in and he wont tell me what exercise he’s gonna do next.

  5. I’m so glad you’re back from your honeymoon’n! I needed my FFF fix!

My biggest pet peeves… are people who DON’T wipe off the machines! YUCK! Even if you’re not sweating that much, you’re still get’n your germy clamy hands all over the equipment.

    AND…

The ‘hover-ers’. The ones who are waiting for your machine as soon as your step on…and just wait riiiiiiight behind you off to the side and watch the clock.

    AND….

Sally Tight Blonde doin 20 mph on the treadmill next to me without as much losing her breath or breaking a sweat…smiling. While I’m next to her on 5.7 die’n and blinding myself with sweat and breathing like Darth Vader ovah here.

That’s not her fault, but it still pisses me off :)

  6. Sana says:

Ummmm- that is a little crazy. I leave my cell phone in my gym locker!
Ticketed classes are soo intense at my gym, you usually have to wait in line for 30 mins!

Not sure if this is a gym pet peeve but there is a couple at my gym man ( 20-something-bodybuilder). Woman ( late forties and in booty shorts) and they rub up on eachother in between sets of their workout.

I clearly have nothing better to do than watch them…

  7. emily says:

I’m a little disturbed that I’ve actually seen this enough for it to become a pet peeve, but mine is old women standing naked in the locker room and using the blow dryer on their lady bits. I mean, seriously?!?!

  8. I think I have the same woman in my Body Pump class. She is constantly on her blackberry and it drives me nuts. I’m not sure why either. It doesn’t affect me!

  9. Jaime says:

I could on and on and on about my gym pet peeves. I apparently think things should always be MY way. :)

But let’s just go with today…

Gym yoga class. Clearly starts at 5:45. Not just one, but two people walk in at 5:46 just as the instructor starts speaking….so he basically stops talking and we all sit there waiting for those two to get set up and shush.

    Then…

With 15 minutes left, another lady walks in and sets up her mat and joins the class. The look on the instructor’s face was priceless…he was stunned.

Who walks into a yoga class midway through!?

I woulda said something to the texting girl. My old gym had a no cell phone policy…I loved that.

  10. jenny says:

people staring at you while you dressed?!?!?
    WHAT?!?
    THAT’S SO SO CREEPY

  11. Stephanie says:

I HATE when people tend to their cell phones at the gym. It is one thing if you are waiting for an important call, and it comes in, you STOP what you are doing, and go tend to it and then come back and resume.

I agree that any cell phone useage while exercising is rude. I can’t stand being on a treadmill and someone will come get on the one right next to me while talking on their phone and start slowly walking like its no big deal- it’s so distracting, and its useless for them!

Thanks for posting about that, I thought I was being mean by getting so overly annoyed at people like that, glad to know I’m not alone!

  12. Heather says:

As a Body Pump instructor, unfortunately you see this alot. It is very distracting. I can see glancing at your phone between sets (if you’re expecting a important email or text) but just stopping and texting is completely rude and incosiderate. If it’s that important, take it outside of the classroom, and come back when you are done. Also, if it is a ticketed class, that is unacceptable. We have one instructor that will make you do pushups if your phone goes off in class. Love it!

  13. Wow, that would be super rude. If I was the instructor I would have said something to her.

  14. betsy says:

Wow, that’s weird and distracting for everyone! Why does one even have a cell phone in class? Unless they used it for music for the cardio before/after, I don’t see why it’s necessary. Just my opinion.

  15. Whoa, what a serious waste of gym time! Why even go to the class if you aren’t going to fully participate? Some people are entertaining to say the least.

  16. Linda says:

I hate when people full on stop during Zumba. I’ve almost run people down. If you have to stop move to the side. One gal stood still for 1/2 of class and then high fived her friend when it was over. Uh, you did nothing girlie. High fiving is for us folks who worked out. Not those who stood in the middle of the room and waited for the rest of us to finish. Gah!

  17. Ibelis says:

Okay i want some of that tea! Looks yummy! My gym pet peeve are people (girls and guys) who are wearing gym gear that they shouldnt. Someone mentioned above the flip flops and jeans. Whats worse is those who wear things that are too small and their “goodies” are popping out and they are bending over all the time. Not cute at all!
