Sunday I had one of “those” days. I mean that in a good way. Most of the time when someone says they are having one of “those” days it is negative. In this case I mean I had one of “those” days filled with happiness, grateful feelings, laughter, laughter that turned into tears, straight out tears- the good kind of tears, hugs and smiles.
My Sunday morning started by getting my wake up call from this doxie shaped alarm clock by way of a good old face stomp and hair pull.
Thanks, Oscar! I’m awake now. Too bad Oscar is so stinkin’ cute it is impossible to get mad at him for even a second no matter what he does. This dog totally gets by on his looks, I tell ya!
I spent my morning baking cookies and making lasagna. That’s our favorite breakfast. I’m kidding. My dear friends Lauren and Phil welcomed a beautiful baby girl a few days ago and we were going to visit them. I wanted to bring them something hot and delicious that that can reheat and eat for a few days. I’m pretty sure being a new parent is overwhelming enough without having to worry about cooking yourself a home cooked meal. Adam watch on intently as I made a cheesy 5 layer lasagna. At one point he said, “How come Lauren and Phil get the good lasagna and I have to eat that whole wheat and spinach bullsh*t?! No fair!”. I told him when we have a baby I will make him “the good lasagna”. I think he will be fine with the whole wheat and spinach bullsh*t for a while.
I actually got so caught up in making food for Lau and Phil I forgot to make breakfast for myself…bad Ali! On I way to Lau and Phil’s house we stopped for lunch at Oye. I was in the mood for sushi (I am always in the mood for sushi). While looking over the sushi menu I sipped an obligatory “holy crap I am about to meet one of my best friend’s baby” (read: “Holy crap my friends are having children on purpose.” Read: “I am getting old”) glass of cabernet.
I went with a Kiss The Fire roll and an asparagus maki roll. Confession: I got the asparagus roll because asparagus is Adam’s favorite vegetable and I had the motive of getting him to try sushi.
The Kiss the Fire sushi was amazing. Super spicy…just how I like it! Adam did try a piece of asparagus maki and like it but said it isn’t something he would order for himself. I am glad he at least tried it
After lunch we headed over to meet the little peanut. My beautiful friend Lauren is known for her stunning red hair. Once we found out that she was having a girl we all hoped that she would be a red head just like her mom. I was so pleased to get a text the day she was born that she was a red head!!! This discovery earned her the name Scarlett. Such an adorable name for such a cute little girl!
My two favorite red heads
Once Phil handed Scarlett to me, I immediately burst into tears. I was so happy to welcome her and so happy for Lauren and Phil. She is gorgeous! There is something so amazing about a new baby. They are like a clean slate and so innocent. I can’t wait to get to know Scarlett and watch her grow up. What a blessing!
Once I could control the water works I was able to take a normal photo with my new girlie!
We hung out with the new parents for a few hours before heading out to let them get some rest.
The day continued to be a celebration. I met up with my friends Lisa, Maureen and Kristen to celebrate Lisa’s birthday and my new job!
We enjoyed buffalo chicken dip (made my this girl) and homemade pizza (Maureen’s speciality).
We spent the evening sipping spiced rum apple cider that Kristen made in her crockpot…TO DIE FOR!
Oh and playing Cranium which was the cause of us laughing until we cried! It was hilarious!!!!
Lisa and I won because we kinda share a brain at times…
The night ended with a froyo birthday cake for Lisa!
I had such a fun day celebrating friends and celebrating with friends. Best Sunday in a while
Oh and I did it all while wearing this:
Black leggings (H&M), White Tank (Forever 21), Gray and white plaid Men’s Flannel Shirt (American Eagle by way of Adam’s Closet), Hot pink bubble vest (Gap), Silver Chucks (Converse). Cute and Comfy!
How was your Sunday? Have you ever played Cranium? If so, did you love it? What is you favorite category? Mine is Start Performer.

I am definitely at the age where my friends could be having babies on purpose. Close ones have not yet, but I am waiting for it. haha.
Good ploy on the asparagus rolls. What did he eat instead?
Oh so Oscar woke you up with a Pep Talk too?? He was like “i know you are gonna go see Auntie Lau’s baby but remember, I’m your baby.” haha. Okay so if I have have a baby I’ll be waiting for a lasagna!!
Haha! Have a baby = I make you lasagna!
Baby Scarlet is really precious as is grown up Ali:) Love those sneakers! I was supposed to play cranium but my friend misplaced it so we played a game called, “battle of the sexes”. There were not enough males so I had to put on the man pants…The boys won! I wonder what it says about me that I did just as well competing like a boy as I do au natural…hmmmmm.
Stacey
That sounds like a fun game! I am cracking up picturing you dressed in drag playing a board game. Oh, Stacey!
Your alarm clock is very adorable. I wich I will have one like that once I will have my own home here. I found your blog today, when searching for some fitness ones in the UK (not too many found to be honest…), but yours came up , despit you not being located in England. Anyways, I am relaly looking forward to read more of your posts. You seem very positive person
best regards
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoy it! I’m slightly surprised there aren’t any fitness blogs based out of England. I hope you continue to like what you see
There are some fitness blogs, not too many though. Our gym memberships are much more expensive than the ones in the US or Canada (as far as my friends tell me) and I believe people prefer to spend the money on booz and doing nothing for their health.
Also most of fitness related blogs is 99% about running (English people are very much into marathons) and I enjoy variety, so…
I will definitely be back.
Interesting. I think that may be because there are gyms every few blocks here. So they have to compete with each other as far as pricing and services go. You will see a lot about running on her since I am a runner and live in a big running city- Boston. But I do try to vary my workouts with CrossFit, Running and yoga. Thanks for reading
Yup, that’s what my friends are telling me – that in US there are gyms literally everywhere. Here – not really…
And as for your blog, yes you do running, but it’s not the only thing you write about and that’s why I like it so far
Best regards and have a great rest of the week !
Glad to see you posting again! By the way – your hair looks great at every length. Do you trim it when growing it out to keep it cute?
Thanks, Vanessa! I’m slightly embarrassed to admit it but I haven’t cut my hair in almost a year. I am really working on growing it out.
