One Year Ago Today…

I sat down at my computer, logged onto WordPress and wrote my very first blog post! I had no idea who I was writing to or if anyone even cared to read it. I just wrote about my day. At first just my close friends and family were reading and then it slowly other people stumbled upon it and started reading.

Over the past year this blog has taken me on a fantastic journey. I have documented my meals, my workouts, trainings, my outfits, and my favorite documentation of all- my races!!! You guys have watch me struggle through 5k’s and smile through a half marathon and so many other races in between! I have written about my ruts, “funks”, happy times and sad ones. I have received so many comments and e-mails from readers, some who shared their success stories with me , some who thanked me for inspiring them and a few negative Nacey’s ;) .

I have made some great friends!

Attended a number of blogger meet ups including HLS 2009, Fitbloggin ’10 and the Healthworks Blogger Bash!

This blog has given me SOOOOO many amazing opportunities! (remember when I had lunch with Gary Hirshberg?) It has had it ups and downs and I love looking back at the evolution. Whether you have been a reader from day one, or this is the very first post you have laid eyes on- I thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading, commenting, emailing, starting discussion, lending support or just sitting back silently and enjoying ;) I am so grateful to have such great readers!!!!

HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY Food, Fitness, Fashion! Here is to many, many more!!!!

What better way to celebrate my blog’s birthday than a jar oatmeal?!

You are so inspirational! :) happy birthday FFF! :)

  19. Clare says:

I love that you add the fashion aspect instead of just food and running like many other blogs. As I’m starting my career in the business world, you inspire me to still look cute at the office! (Shopping online at banana right now…uh oh..:)

  20. Ibelis says:

I love the food ideas you give. I’ve tried so many new things that I never would have. You also give good yet small suggestions to healthy living. (and I always look forward for Oscar to make his random cameos)

  21. Ashley T says:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I feel so privileged to have been a reader since day 1!
My favorite thing about FFF is YOU! You are you, and that’s what makes your blog so amazing. Its true and its real. And well, I get to be in it every so often so that’s pretty awesome too ;)

  22. Katy says:

I like your frequent updates, your honesty, your drive, your relatability…that enough? Don’t be greedy. ;)

  23. I love your gorge outfits and that you’re a real girl – you drink beer for gosh sakes! I think that ‘realness’ is missing from a lot of other blogs in the blogosphere…. Congrats! Next month is my EIGHTH blogiversary… :)

  24. Niki says:

happy bday FFF! my fave part is the fashion, i love it!!

  25. Amanda says:

I love how I can relate to you like you’re just “one of the girls” even though we’ve never met! It’s nice to have a Boston counterpart working full time, going to grad school, working out, feeding our addiction to iced coffees, and embracing wedding season! Happy blog birthday!

  26. Yay! Happy birthday FFF!!!!

You are my favorite thing! That’s why I read, you are what makes FFF special. :)

I love how much you love nut butters! And how real you are. :)

  30. Heather C says:

Your blog is so, “real”(highs/lows)…and I love your sense of fashion! Your blog is motivating also!
    Happy One Year!

  31. Pauline says:

I love that your blog is so down to Earth! Some blogs are hard for me to stay committed to reading everyday b/c I find some suggestions/comments/lifestyles just too difficult to bring into my everyday life. I love that you are real and that I can totally relate to EVERYTHING that you write about. You are a busy lady, but still find time for your friends, family, health, and of course FASHION! You are a wonderful role model!
    Happy 1st Birthday to FFF!

  32. Jamie says:

i love your honesty about how difficult striking a balance in life is. BUT you do it so well and with such a great attitude, despite your “funks”!

  33. Melissa says:

I definitely love the combination of pictures to writing. Your writing is personable, enaging, and relatable, while your pictures serve as the ideal complement. Thank you for writing a blog that truly defines what it means to be content with life.

    – Melissa

  34. AlisonJ says:

I love that you still live your life – and realize that a healthy one can include beer, bbqs, and crazy times with friends!

  35. Joey says:

I’d love to win some Tazo Tea! :) My favorite thing about FFF is the fashion! I love seeing your outfits and when I recently had to get a new wardrobe for work, I found myself looking for ideas on your blog!

  36. Happy Blog Birthday!

I love the outfits that you post and the fact that the items come from reasonably priced stores!

  37. Congrats on making it a year! I appreciate any blogger because I know what it takes to make one of these happen. It’s not easy all the time. I love your entire theme and especially love reading local blogs. Keep up the good work!!

  38. Meghan Alvarez says:

I love the inspiration your blog gives me to go to the gym as much as i can and eat as healthy as possible for me (with a cheat day here and there :)

I appreciate your honesty and how you put yourself out there for others to admire and critique.

Of course i also enjoy the outfits and food ideas that you give me daily. Thank you so much for opening up your life for us all to enjoy! I will keep reading everyday. Congrats on your one year blog birthday!

  39. Debbie says:

    Hi Ali,

Love today’s outfit with Wendy. Hi Wen.

I love your blog because it’s very inspirational. You go about your daily life making good choices and taking care of yourself and it makes me feel like I can do that same.

Glad to see in your previous post that you have gotten out of your “Funk” those are the worst.

  40. jenny says:

    Happy Blog Birthday!!!
My fave aspect is the daily fashion….you give me some great ideas!!! ;)

  41. Happy Happy Blog Birthday! Love your outfits and running stories :)

  43. Joanna says:

Happy birthday FFF! I have only been reading for a few months, but I really enjoy that the blog gives a view of healtly living from several perspectives. I also love getting ideas for new eats or fashion!

  44. shelly says:

I love your fashion posts…. especially the jacket your wore today!
    Happy BDay FFF!

  45. LOVE the outfits pics (and use of color!) I’m usually stuck in a black, grey, green, white rut – and I love seeing your outfits to help me break out – I wear yellow now, hurray!

And I love that your blog is REAL – beers, pizza, lots of coffee; I like that you put it all out there. Go FFF!

  46. MonicaW says:

My favorite thing about food fitness fashion are the weekend recaps. Even though I miss reading on the weekends I love reading about all your exciting events from the weekend esp. the wedding stuff! I also love how honest you are like about your “funk”. Keep up the good work and Happy Blogivarsary!

  47. Kristin says:

I enjoy reading about all of the healthy eating tips and recipes and have implemented many of them while trying to eat better myself. You’ve turned me onto Chobani (with all the mix-ins), spaghetti squash and more!

  48. Dan says:

    Hey Ali,

My 2 favorite things about FFF are the running posts where I get a chance to geek out a bit and the give-away’s!

If it is free, it is for me!

    Dan

  49. Kate says:

Happy Blogiversary!!! I adore ur outfit posts and positive attitude (even when you get tired, stressed or in a funk, you find a way to snap out of it and that is inspiring!)…it makes reading fun!

  50. Amanda says:

    Hi Ali,

What I like best about FFF is how honest and up-front you are. I love reading about your healthy lifestyle, too, and your running posts get me motivated to get out there and pound the pavement as well! Keep up your inspiring posts, they’re great!

    Amanda

  51. Ali says:

First off, I love that we have the same name :) (Go 1 “L”s!)

What I love most about FFF though, is the reality of your adventure with food, fitness, and fashion. I love getting new healthy recipe ideas to try, and it’s honestly so refreshing to witness a healthy lifestyle on a day to day basis. You LIVE it, rather than just preach it. I dealt with an eating disorder last year, and it’s nice to know that other women are happy and content with a healthy diet that isn’t super strict. I’m constantly inspired by your blog, and am so thankful to have stumbled upon it this year.

Keep up the good work, and HAPPY BLOG BIRTHDAY!

    Ali

  52. *Andrea* says:

my favorite part is your recaps of bars, restaurants and races in the boston area (where i live)!

  53. Lisa says:

I’ve only been reading for about a week, and I really enjoy getting to see the trials and tribulations of another runner; as many others have stated, I love your honesty! I also enjoy getting to see the foods that you fit into an enthusiastic, healthy and, most importantly, feasible, diet. Glad you’re feeling better!

  54. tammy says:

what i love most is you..you are so real and honest, not sugar coating to make people think you eat broccoli and and carrots all day –you have your good days, not-so-good day, indulgences, etc… and bring it right on back to being fit, and fashionalble — keep up the great work

  55. First of all, congrats on blogging for a year!! Secondly, I think my favorite thing about your blog is that you are so REAL!! You dont fake the fact that you enjoy treats, but also balance it with exercise and veggies most of the time!! Good luck with the next year of amazing blogging!! :)

  56. Alexandra says:

I love how honest you are in your blog. You write about your ups and downs and are always upfront with your readers, which I think takes a lot of courage. I also love all your fun posts, you seem like you know how to have a fun time and don’t stress about it afterwards :)

  57. maren says:

i like that you always remember to post your outfit photos!!! happy bday FFF!

  58. Mary says:

I am enjoying reading your entries! Can’t believe it’s been a full year already. wow! My favorite part of the blog is the simple, time-saving and healthy snacks you eat. I also like to see your outfits! Really practical and pretty! thank you!

  59. Mandy says:

I really love when you post your outfits. They’re always really cute, and i love how you tell us where you got the pieces from :)

  60. Lindsey says:

I love seeing your refreshing outlook on food, fitness, and fashion. One that is approachable, easy to follow, and easy to relate too:) Thank you!!

  61. Julia says:

I’m a new reader but I love seeing your outfits! It’s so helpful as someone new to the work world :)

  62. Tiff says:

Congrats on one year! I like all the running details, how much you’ve trained for races, how you felt before and after. I like your honesty!

  63. Angela says:

I loveeee this blog! I love all the new recipes and healthy eating ideas. You are seriously an inspiration to work out and be healthy–but to still eat delicious things, which is hard! :)

  64. Happy blog birthday! Love you and your daily outfits :)

  65. Sharon G says:

Your blog is very inspiring. Seriously! It’s better than the weight watchers website for keeping inspiration. I think it’s because it’s so honest. Congrats on your first anniversary.

  66. I love your blog! It’s what inspired me in writing one of my own. Thank you Ali :)

  67. Hilary says:

Your meal recaps help remind me about portion size and give me fresh ideas for healthy options (because it is so easy to fall into a rut!)

  68. Julie says:

Don’t laugh but it keeps me connected to what’s going on with you, seeing that I don’t get to see you everyday anymore. The cute outfits and healthy eating tips are just extra bonuses!!

  69. Jess says:

FFF is a fun way to see how other people (you) are doing the same things that I like to do … run, eat, and be fashionable!

  70. Maura says:

Happy Blog Birthday! My fav part about FFF is that I’m a fellow Bostonian and love to read about places I know and love too (ie. HW!!)

  71. jaime says:

i really enjoy your attitude! you’re so positive and upbeat and seem to really like yourself and care about others and you try to spread that around. also, if i’m being completely honest, i like seeing my sister (ashley t) pop up now and then. and not to be too cheesy, but it really makes me happy to know she has a friend like you!

  72. kelly says:

Stumbled upon your blog recently from Carrots N Cake, and I have been reading ever since.
I am drawn back every day because I love the variety, that most of your posts include exercise, food, an outfit as well as your real life. It’s interesting to keep up with.

  73. I’ve always hated running (too many tramatic flashbacks to junior high gym class!), but your persistence and positive attitude have really inspired me to push myself harder and remember that I’m going to the gym for myself, not for anyone else! I can still barely run for 10 minutes straight, but that’s better than the 5 minutes I could do before, so I call that progress! Thank you for your honesty and all the heart you put into your posts. :)

  74. Paula says:

Happy First Anniversary, FFF! My favorite part about your blog is how down to earth you are. Plus, the beer! ;)

  75. Elizabeth says:

Well Happy Birthday, FFF! I love the fashion inspiration you provide, as well as your upbeat take on food and fitness. Being a Boston girl (and Healthworks member, woot!) myself, I also really enjoy seeing familiar places and faces. Hope you’re having a great week. :)

  76. lauren says:

A blog with sweet dog pics, AND shoes……what more could a girl want?!?!

  77. Dani says:

I love seeing and hearing about Boston! It’s so neat to have at fitness-nut so close that I can relate to :)

  78. kellyr84 says:

I enjoy your blog a lot! I like that you appear to be honest about your feelings regarding running. I, myself, am not a runner, but a biker and there are definitely times where I’m in funks and don’t want to ride, but I know I have to push through. I also enjoy seeing the different outfits and getting ideas for meals.

  79. Happy “Birthday”!
Love the candle, that’s so cute.

  80. Courtney says:

I loved how you recounted your training and the race itself… it inspired me to believe that I might be able to manage a half-marathon myself one day, and that it would be worth it to try!

  81. Rachelle says:

I love to see your outfits, hear about your running and also see what you eat, to give me food ideas!

  82. Ashley says:

My favorite thing about FFF is when you show pictures of your outfit for the day! They are always super cute!

  83. allieatfood says:

I’ve been following for awhile but commenting for the first time. Congrats on 1 year of your blog :) So exciting! I’m sure more exciting things will happen in the years to come.

  84. Meg says:
