RUNNING my errands

Hey Hey Hey! I hope you are are doing well. Can you believe summer is almost over? HOW, I ask you, HOW?! Yesterday I decided to get in two of my favorite summer activities since pretty soon the chilly fall days will be rolling in. Those two activities being: running outside in the sunshine and laying out on my roof soaking up the sun. At 8:30 am I walked Oscar and then put on some running clothes. I had to run an errand at the bank and really wanted to get in a lovely sunshine run. So, I killed two birds with one stone. I threw the checks and cash I needed to deposit in a sandwich baggy (to avoid handing over sweaty and gross cash to the poor bank teller) and threw it in my sports bar. I immediatly had two thoughts:

  • This baggy in my bra feels weird
  • You  lucky baggy, you ;)

The bank is about 2 miles away from our house so I literally “ran my errands.” I ran two miles to the bank and two mile home. I ran 4 miles in 37:18.

Splits:

  • Mile 1- 8:57
  • Mile 2- 9:07
  • Mile 3- 9:33
  • Mile 4- 9:40

I need to stop coming out of the gate so fast because clearly it is wearing me out when I look at the splits. I would much rather see even or negative splits. I am vowing to be more mindful of this, here and now!

When I returned home, my friends Belle came over to hang out for the day. I whipped up a post-workout/breakfast green smoothie: banana, spinach, unsweetened vanilla almond milk, vanilla protein powder, cacoa powder, cacoa cherry juice (for muscle repair).

Belle and I hit the roof for some girl talk, magazine perusing, and soaking up some sun. Sunbathing with a view!

It was a great way to spend the morning! Once we got bored had had enough sun, we showered and went to lunch at Panera.  I saw a sign for their new avocado and chicken cobb salad. It looked so awesome that I had to have it. I ordered it without the bacon.

This salad was best Panera salad I have ever had! The greek salad was my favorite, but this blows the greek right out of the water. I love the avocado, egg and gorgonzola cheese- it gives it a creaminess without adding a creamy dressing.

I spent the afternoon and evening catching up on some reading. I had a few handfuls of grapes for an afternoon snack.

Dinner was simple because I was lazy, I’ll admit it! I made a pressed turkey and cheddar sandwich on whole wheat bread with some popchips and grapes on the side.

What will you miss most about summer once fall rolls around?

I just had that Panera salad for the first time too, and it was amazing! So good!

  2. That Panera salad looks SO good!!!! I can’t tell you the last time I had Panera, but I’m going to have to find one now!

I’m probably the only person who hates the summer. Heat and humidity make me insane, but I do love the spring and fall :)

Hey Ali! I can wait to start making my own green smoothie drinks! What kind of vanilla protein powder do yo use? And what is cherry cacao juice? Thanks! Your blog inspires me every day!

      Hi Jen!

I am not really married to any particular protein powder. I am still trying to find one I love. Right now I am using one from Trader Joe’s because it blends well and is really inexpensive. The Cherry Cacao juice is a cherry juice by Cherribundi (a cherry juice brand). It comes in various flavors and I used the cacao (chocolate) flavor. It tastes just like a chocolate covered cherry. Cherry juice has been proven to help with muscle repair after workouts. I drank it a lot when I was training for my marathon, so I throw it in smoothies if I have it on hand. Thanks for your comments and questions! I hope you enjoy green smoothies as much as I do :)

I’m going to miss the warm sun and long days. I will be heading back to school in a few weeks and will definitely miss the free time.
