Showering Lau and Phil «

This Sunday this happened:

Here is the back story. One afternoon this past February I met my two best girlfriends from childhood out for lunch. Here we are circa 1997:

It was a normal winter afternoon, cold and snowy. I was excited to see my besties and enjoy a little pizza. May and I got there early and we were waiting on Lauren. I could tell something was up by the look on May’s face, but I wasn’t exactly sure what was going on. Lauren showed up and we chatted for a few minutes. Something looked different about her, I just couldn’t tell exactly what it was… until she looked over at me and said, “I’m pregnant.” I immediately started crying and so did she. In 20 years of friendship I can count on one hand the amount of times I have seen Lauren cry. She is a tough cookie. For months I thought about my reaction. Why did I cry like that? I have come to realize that it was tears of happiness and gratefulness. We have been friends for so long through family tragedies, huge accomplishments, heart breaks, let downs, hilarious times and all the little things in between. We weren’t little girls having shaving cream fights on Halloween or watching pop-up video anymore. We were grown up and after being through so much I was honored to be one of the first people to find out that Lauren and Phil were expecting. I was happy. A genuine happiness for people I love so much and people who truly deserve the joy of having a child. Lauren and Phil actually introduced Adam and I almost 14 years ago, for that I will love them both forever.

Lauren and Phil at their baby shower this past Sunday:

Lau’s baby shower was lovely. She is expecting a girl in about 7 weeks. We can’t wait to welcome the fourth girl to our group!

The decorations were so adorable. Lauren’s mom and sister did an amazing job!

How cute were Lauren and Phil as babies?!

May had a family tree made for Lauren and Phil. Everyone at the baby shower used ink to create a fingerprint leaf for the tree and wrote their name with it. It came out so cute! I love this idea for wedding and baby showers!!!!

Lauren, Phil and the babe got tons of gifts. There were so many adorable little outfits and shoes. Little girl stuff is so fun!

May got Lauren this journal and I thought it was hilarious. We were cracking up as we were flipping through it!

The eats were pretty awesome too! I had salad, grilled bbq chicken and of course macaroni and cheese.

I personally thought that the cake was way to pretty to cut, until I heard there was carrot cake inside those beautiful decorations. Then I was all for it being cut up. Carrot cake is my absolute favorite!!!

It was a great day to spend with friends and family celebrating the new bundle of joy we are all anxiously awaiting! I cannot wait for Lauren and Phil to be parents and to meet my new friend. I also can’t wait to find out her name which is a secret.

Congrats, Lauren and Phil! I could not be more happy for you guys and I love you both tons!

After the shower I went to FFF Mom and FFF Dad’s house to catch up with them. My mom made a delicious dinner of a fresh salad, ravioli and a homemade sauce. Yum
