The Death Of A Blender

Hey everyone! I have missed you all a ton! This summer has been super busy for me working my tail off with working a lot at 2 jobs. I have barely had time for anything else. Yesterday morning I got up at 5:15 am to meet Kristen for a run. Mondays are tough because I go from job to job. I typically work from 8:00 am-12:00 am straight through. So if I want to workout it HAS to happen in the morning. However, we all know Monday mornings are their own hurdle in and of themselves. Alas, yesterday morning my desire to run beat out my case of the Mondays!

We ran 4.65 miles in 43:23. It was a nice run with a few hills and beautiful weather. We agreed that it would have been better had be both not drank a few glasses of wine while watching the Olympics on my sofa the night before…oops!

Splits:

  • Mile 1- 8:15
  • Mile 2- 9:12
  • Mile 3- 9:53
  • Mile 4- 9:41
  • .65- 6:20

The splits were sort of all over the place. You can see that dehydration hit us pretty hard around mile 3. Luckily, we did discover a water fountain close to mile 4. I had run past that fountain so many times and never noticed it. Yesterday morning it was like a beacon glistening in the sun. As soon as we saw it we run toward it as fast as we could and gulped down water. In case there was ever any question… Pinot Nior is not good running fuel. I’m pretty sure you guys knew that already, right?

After the run I decided I needed a cold and hydrating breakfast. Smoothie! My blender has been slow and also has been leaking a lot lately. I was hoping it could hold on until we had some extra cash to invest into a blender. However, while making my smoothie yesterday morning, my blender died. RIP blender. You will be missed. Thanks for all those delicious green smoothies over the last few years. :(

My smoothie was pretty awesome. I consisted of: 1 banana, spinach, vanilla protein powder, frozen strawberries, unsweetened vanilla almond milk, pineapple flavored coconut water and a splash of orange juice.

I also sipped some coffee with organic half and half while getting ready for work.

Mid-morning I had some reduced fat cottage cheese while teaching a lesson on resume writing.

Lunch was eaten at work with co-workers and some of the teens I am working with. I packed a turkey sandwich on sprouted whole grain bread, topped with greek olive hummus and lettuce. On the side I had an orange sliced and some ranch flavored soy chips.

After work I headed home to change and then I went right to the Navy Yard Bistro to hostess for the night. While Adam drove me I had a chocolate chip Z bar so hold me over until my usual late dinner after work. I forgot to snap a photo. Work was busy, which is always good thing! I love chatting with some of our regular customers. I came to realize that I will talk about the Olympics to anyone that will listen. Luckily, folks at work were really into it as well.

When I got home at 11pm I was hungry. I heated up some frozen black beans, edamame, snap peas and carrots. I also created a vegan BLT with a whole wheat sandwich thin, vegan mayo, veggie “bacon”, spring mix and a tomato slice.

Yesterday’s Outfits:

To the day program I work at-

Green capris (Old Navy), White racerback tank (Forever 21), Navy blue long sleeved shirt (Gap), not pictured old Sacony running shoes.

To the Navy Yard Bistro-

Dark pink and white stripped dress (American Eagle), Gold Sperry Topsiders, Gold large faced watch (Guess), Layered pearl bracelet  that belonged to my grandmother.

I’m looking for a new blender. What kind of blender do you have? Would to recommend it?

  1. I just got the ninja after my blender died. It’s very powerful and has sharp blades so it gets blended up very quickly.

  2. my blender broke too!!! Glad to hear from you!

  3. That striped dress is so adorable on you! So fresh and summery!

My blender died awhile back. I got the kitchen aid blender. Thought of the ninja but we have a juicer so didn’t need all the extra stuff the ninja had. Plus it was pricey!! if I get any of those 20% off coups in the mail i’ll save it for you! Even my kitchen aid one was up there in price but save $40! But i love it! I live off them GMs!

My husband got the Ninja and it works great. You can even do one serving at time with the one serving blender attachment it comes with.
