To Bob Or Not To Bob?

Hello!!! Well I am only working a half day today, but I am still going to be slammed anyways. I have a LOT of Thanksgiving prep to do, plus I am cutting my hair today. I have really wanted to cut my hair into a bob for a while now and I finally decided to just do it!

I have had my hair like this before, a few years ago and I LOVED it!

Me with my cousins-in-law Barbie and Jill and our friend Annemarie.

Myself and my sister-in-law Amanda.

I am still nervous about it though, I don’t know why. I think it is because I spent so much time (like 2 years) growing my hair out for my wedding, that I am just nervous about cutting it off. I am still slightly on the fence…I think it will be a last minute decision. To Bob or not to Bob….hummmm?

Have I mentioned that I have had many hair colors too? Yup! I have had Bleach Blonde:

Dark Blonde:

Brown with Blond Highlights:

Dark Brown:

Black:

There was also purple, red, and orange – all mistakes that my friend Phil had to fix for me. I made sure no pictures of those were taken- And then my natural color which is light brown.

I used to dye my hair so much because I HATED my natural color. But now I really, really love it! Ok- enough about my hair….on to my eats!

Anyways, last night I was craving sushi so I picked some up at ZEN on my way home. When I got home I realized I forgot my camera at work! I hate when I am so absent minded that I forget my camera. So, I had silly iPhone pictures.  Excuse the bad quality.

I got a seaweed salad (my favorite).

I also got a spicy tuna roll and a Boston roll.

It was my first time going to Zen and I was pleased. The sushi was great and the prices were reasonable. I spent the rest of the evening catching up on TV with Adam. Our DVR is sooooooo full that it is deleting stuff on it’s own now.

Breakfast this morning was coffee and hemp oats made in a jar of Barney Butter.

The Barney Butter jar survived the microwave and every bite had a little chunk of BB in it. I make sure nothing is wasted when it comes to Barney Butter :)

When I got to work, I was glad to see that my camera was still here! Thank goodness, I always get nervous when I leave it behind!

Today’s Outfit:

Black slim-fit turtleneck (H&M), Dark Skinny Jeans (JCrew), Hot pink scarf.

Shoes:

Leopard print flats.

Do you like to experiment with your hair, or do you leave it the same?

DO IT DO IT DO IT!!!!!! And then come to salon kitchen for a few (just a few) strawberry blond highlights. SISTA!

  2. I am en experiment gal all the way! I’ve had strawberry blond, red, brown (which I hated) and every shade of just blond. I even did the whole super dark underneath light blond on top.

Three years ago when I lived in Philly, I walked into a salon that had high recommendations on Yelp and said, “Cut it. I want to look like Posh Spice.” I think my hair was to the middle of my back at that point. My stylist was fabulous, gave me an inverted bob and my hair hasn’t graced my collar bone since.

Of course now I am growing it out and I stopped fighting my natural curl but I definitely say cut it – it’s just hair, after all!

  3. DO IT! I too have had every color of the rainbow and every cut imaginable; right now, I’m rocking the super long dark brown hair with blond highlights….FOR NOW. My natural color is a mousy brown; so I’ve been dying my hair for almost 15 years! Yikes!

The bob would look great on you! I had it cut a couple of times myself but I hated having to do my hair all the time and this was worse, running in the heat with it down because I couldn’t pull it back ! Eh

  5. Paula says:

Definitely go for the bob! I love your look in the first photo. Gorgeous!

I like to experiment with my hair. I’ve been nearly every color but blonde, and have had super short cuts to long ones.

I say go for it! You looked great with a bob before, plus bobs can be quite versatile when they’re done right (just think of all the celebrities working them right now!)

I wouldn’t say Im an experimenter, since I’ve never done anything out of the ordinary (I have yet to ever dye my hair), but I do have a tendency to chop it off just before it gets long. Im trying to avoid the temptation right now though because I’ve never actually grown my hair out past my shoulders.

    PS love the shoes!

  7. I love the first photo of your bob and the hair colors in your yellow shirt photo. I went from a long hair person to a chopped short hair gal about a year ago. I’ve loved having a shorter, sassy do.

Oh my goodness, I love you with a bob!! Soooo cute! =) Happy Thanksgiving!

  9. I used to highlight my hair a lot. It wasn’t until recently that I let my natural color grow out. Just like you, I didn’t like it, but now I love it!

    I love the Bob :-)

Oh, do I ever. I did a similar post awhile back. And I absolutely want to get Maggie Gyllenhal’s curly bob. Negotiating with the long-hair-loving-husband. You should ABSOLUTELY go for it! The bob looks amazing on you!

  11. Good choice with the bob! I’ve done a few fun things with my hair through out the years. Including jet black with a red streak in the front! There’s nothing like a new (good) haircut to make you feel like a new girl.

  12. I change my hair a lot. But lately it’s been the same. I’m growing it out right now and it’s the longest it’s been in a long time. I’m diggin it though.

I’m a purist with my hair – no color in it ever! I wouldn’t mind some highlights, but once you start you have to keep going and I just don’t want to deal with that.
I have done a few different lengths, but a little below shoulder level is my go-to.

I think I like your hair best your natural color!!

  14. You look great at all hair and color lengths but I especially loveeeeee you with short light blond hair!

  15. Andrea says:

I like to change my hair up ever three months or so. I think you should cut it, it looked really good in a bob.

  16. Jenny says:

I like the bob! If I had straighter, thinner hair, I would totally cut my hair short. However, my crazy curls get even wackier if I don’t keep my hair somewhat long.

  17. Paula says:

I know tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and you’re probably super busy tonight, but I hope you pop in and at least show us your haircut! :)

  18. Sana says:

Get the bob! You look so sassy!

  19. Caroline says:

I love to change my hair! I usually grow it out and then cut it all off. I have had blonde hair in the past but for the last few years have kept it dark. I think it will be so cute short on you!!!!!

  20. [...] the mani, I sprinted down the street to my hair appointment. And….I DID IT!!!! I BOBBED! I cut off about 7 inches- and I love it! It is so sassy and cute at the same time!! My hairdresser [...]

My rule of thumb is leave it to the professionals. I go in with an idea and ask my stylist if it will suit me and if it is current. I got a bob type cut a few months ago, cutting off about 6 inches and I am loving it. I found that when my hair was long it was always up, now I take the time to style it and have fun with it. Good luck!
