Track Attack!

Hola, people! I hope you are all doing well! On Tuesday morning I made a huge green smoothie. So huge in fact that I knew I couldn’t fit it all into one glass (and I have some huge glasses) let alone finish it in one sitting. I had this brilliant idea to freeze half of it. I pulled it out of the freezer Tuesday night before I went to bed and woke up yesterday morning to a green smoothie slushy!

It seems odd, but I really liked it. It was the consistency of slush, but in green smoothie flavor. I recommend doing this if you have leftover smoothies. I have tried putting the extra in the fridge before but it the ice melts and it tastes watered down and kind of yucky. This is the best solution to the “extra smoothie problem” that I have found. #foodbloggerproblems

I also had a cup of coffee for with my smoothie because I am a caffeine addict.

I spent the morning applying for jobs…per usual. A few new postings popped up yesterday and I had to jump on it asap! Around 11 am I met up with the lovely FFF Mom who wanted to treat me to a mani and pedi. My mom is the sweetest! It was nice to hang out with mom and catch up, even though we talk almost every day. We ended up wanting the same color. It is OPI “I Eat Mainely Lobster”. Great minds think alike! Now mom and I have matching nails! I love it!

Lunch was grilled chicken on salad and some leftover ravioli from dinner with my parents on Sunday.

I spent the rest of the afternoon working on some blog partnership stuff and drafting a few special posts. Like I have mentioned in previous posts, I have been really trying to get creative  with my workouts. I have been making up my own, challenging and different workouts to keep my mind and body guessing. Crossfit did this for me naturally without me having to put in any though, I would just go and do it. But now I am am really trying to create my own that change it up so I am excited to try new things and also my body isn’t doing something it is used to- muscle memory. In doing so I hope to bring you all some fun and unique workouts that you can try out and will love too! Win, win! I really wanted to create a track workout that was both challenging and fun because we have a track right near our house. My goal was to create a workout where all you needed was the track and you. So that if you have no gym membership and no equipment you can do this workout.

The downside upside of being married to a nutty fitness blogger is that Adam gets to try the workouts too! My brave husband has suffered through a 100-1 workout, a homemade tabata and last night, a homemade track workout. He likes to pretend he is just doing me a favor, but he secretly loves it! He didn’t say so, but I know he does. ;) So when Adam got home from work, to the track we went! Isn’t our track pretty sweet?!

Here is the workout

1 mile warm-up and a pace a little slower than your normal running pace (1 mile= 4 times around the track)

  • 10 stair sprints (sprinting up and down the bleacher stairs- up and down counts as 1)
  • 20 incline push-ups using the bleacher
  • 1 time around the track sprinting the straight away and jogging the curves
  • 30 tricep dips on the bleachers
  • 1 minute side plank hold on each side

Do that set 3 times through and then end with jogging one lap around the track to cool down.

The workout took about 45 minutes, but it flew by! It was a great workout, no equipment needed just us and the track.

Totals:

  • Distance running/jogging: 2 miles
  • 60 incline push-ups
  • 90 tricep dips
  • 3 minutes of plank holds on each side
  • 720 stairs

After the workout we headed home for quick showers and then packed up the whole FFF clan (Adam, Oscar and myself) and headed over to bestie May’s for dinner. Oscar was excited to go and play with May and Rick’s dog and it was nice to enjoy dinner with good friends. I brought over wine, salad, watermelon and asparagus and May and rick picked up chicken tips and corn on the cob.

I had a little of everything and I also had two glasses of red wine throughout the night.

Have you ever done a track workout? Did you like it? What was it? Post below in the comments section for others to try!

  1. That looks like an awesome workout. I always want to do these but am afraid of getting kicked out by the school. Any tips on making sure its okay with the school?

I feel like a lot of people in my community use the track, so it isn’t usually a problem. I would call the school and see of they have times that it is okay for people to use it. Find out when their athletes are using it for practice and avoid those times.

Is that the track in Charlestown!? I’m moving there Fri – if so, I’m pretty pumped! It will be nice to have a track right down the street. I’ll definitely be trying the workout!!! Thanks for posting it!

Hey Ali – I just saw a posting for a counselor at Braintree high school. Maybe Tina’s husband could hook it up?
